Motorway Improvements Project

The M8, M73 and M74 Improvements Project is a £500 million investment programme which is being delivered by the Scottish Roads Partnership (SRP) as a Public Private Partnership initiative.

With the objectives of improving the motorway network in Central Scotland, upgrading the roads to reduce congestion and increase journey time reliability, the project will ultimately boost Scotland’s economy by improving connections between the commercial centres of Glasgow, Edinburgh and beyond.

With a concession period of 33 years, SRP is responsible for the construction as well as the operation and maintenance of the motorway networks. The project is well underway in delivering against its strategic objectives with a key milestone being the launch of the new M8, known as the ‘missing link’. The completion of this seven-mile link road means the entire stretch between Edinburgh and Glasgow is now motorway and as a result motorists are saving up to 20 minutes on journey times.

FIM provides a range of financial services to the M8/M73/M74 Motorway Improvement project.
